The Lyttelton Harbour Board to-day decided to call tenders, within New Zealand for a Diesel generating set of 300 kilowatt capacity. ' This will be sufficient to operate wharf machinery and lighting, the use of which is now curtailed owing to power shortage. . Mr R. G. Mac Gibbon, district electrical engineer, was present at the board meeting and advised the board against spending money on a stand-by plant in view of the Government’s promise to have a stand-by plant running before next winter.
