WIMBLEDON TOURNAMENT. London, June 29. The Wimbledon championships, which began on Monday and will continue through next week, are proving as popular as ever, and there is little doubt that last year’s attendance record of 200,000 for the whole meeting will be exceeded. There were 12,000 on the ground to-day one hour before play began. Fine weather has enabled good progress to be made in all the events. The details are:— MEN’S SINGLES. —Fourth Round.— Brugnon beat Patterson (Australia), 6-3, 5- 6-4, 6-2. In the fourth round Boussus beat Moon 6 0, 6—4, 2—6, 6—2; Lacoste beat Austin 6—4, 6 —4, 6—B, 11—6 6 —2; Morpurgo beat Buselet 6—4, 6—2, 6—2. In the fourth round Tilden beat Landry 6 —4, 2 —6, 2 —6, 6 —l, 6 —4; Borotra beat Crawford 3—6, 6—4, 6—2, 7 —9, 6 —3. MEN’S DOUBLES. —Second Round.— Borotra and Lacoste beat Boussus and Landry, 7-5, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4; Cummings and Moon beat Godfree and Greig, 6-4, 3-6, 7-5, 8- ; Brookes and Coen beat Holthouse and Walcott, 6-3, 6-3, 7-5. In the second round, Patterson and Hawkes beats Higgs and Wheatley 7—5, 9 7, 6—3; Tilden and Hunter beat Edouard Borotra and Buzelet 6—4, 6—4, 5 7, 5—7, 6—2; Lott and Hennessey beat Gregory and Kingsley 6—3, 4—6, 6—o, 6 In the third round Cummings and Moon beat Rohe and Kleinschroth 6—l, 6—4, 13—11.—Australian Press Association. LADIES’ SINGLES. -—Third Round.— In the first round Miss Wills beat Mrs Watson 6—3, 6—o. Miss Bickerton (Australia) beat Miss Rose, 6-3, 6-1; Senorita d’Alvarez beat Miss Collyer, 6-4, 6-4. In the fourth round Senorita D’Alvarez beat Miss Bickerton 9 —7, 6—4. —Fourth Round.— Madaipe Cochet beat Miss Boyd, 6-4, 6-1, 6-3; Miss Akhurst (Australia) beat Mrs Haylock, 6-0, 8-10, 6-0; Miss Helen Wills beat Miss Harvey, 6-2, 6-3.—British Official Wireless. LADIES’ DOUBLES. In the first round Misses Boyd and Akhurst beat Misses Davis and Gordon 6 —3, 6—B, 6—3. In the second round Miss Ryan and Mrs Lycett beat Misses Sterby and Fry 6—4, KING OF SPAIN PRESENT. Rugby. June 29. The King of Spain attended the tourney to-day and saw Senorita d’Alvarez (Spain) beat Miss Collyer.—British Official Wireless.
