PUBLIC NOTICZS. SOILTEX TEST YOUR SOIL. Sweet Soils Produce Best—Most Soils Need Lime—Some More Than Others. Soils that were once sweet have in many cases been drained of their lime contents and are now acid; others were acid to start with. Many soils now considered worn out through exhaustive cropping, or too infertile to warrant their cultivation, can be quickly brought back to fertility by the application of some form of lime. The amount of lime required, however, varies widely from field to field, and even in different parts of the same field. To apply less than the amount needed to neutralize acidity is of little or no benefit; if more than enough is applied, the excess does no harm, but neither does it do any good. In either case time, labour and money are wasted. SOILTEX Shows Exactly How Much Lime Is Needed. The new SOILTEX test, developed by a leading soil chemist at the Michigan State AgriculturalCollege, tells not only the degree of soil acidity, but also exactly how much lime is needed to neutralize it. SOILTEX, in a single operation, gives you all the information you need for deciding what crops will thrive and what treatment to give your soil. SOILTEX Test Quick and Easy to Make. Besides giving an accurate and practical answer to the question, “How much lime need I put on?” the SOILTEX Test is extremely simple. No technical knowledge or special apparatus is required. Everything necessary to make the test is packed in the handy pocket-size outfit. Full directions are enclosed in each package, with a colour chart that tells the degree of acidity and a lime-table that tells the required quantity of whatever form of lime you may decide to use. Only V minute or two is required for each sample of soil; half an hour will suffice to test thoroughly the soil in all parts of a ten-acre field. _You Can’t Afford to Farm Without it. A single pocket-size SOILTEX outfit contains sufficient to make 75 tests. The cost of testing a single sample is less than one penny. PRICE 5/- PER OUTFIT, POSTAGE PAID.
