FINANCIAL MERGER
SCOPE FOR ACTIVITIES. LONDON PRESS COMMENT. (Rec. 5.5 pjn.) Rugby, April 13. With reference to the formation of a private financial company by Imperial Chemical Industries, Ltd. and a similar company in New York, The Times says that the new company should find plenty of scope for its activities. It is proper that the company should be a private one administered by experts and financed by
wealthy corporations. A financial corporation with expert advisers could usefully fill the gap which now exists in the financial machinery of industry.
The Daily Telegraph believes that under such practical guidance as this corporation commands the development of industries should be materially increased.
The Manchester Guardian says that it is difficult to realize the place the corporation aspires to occupy in economic organization, but agrees that in the new industrial conditions there is scope for such a financial organization with great resources and technical experience.—British Official Wirelew.
