BACKWARD CHILDREN
STUDY OF AMERICAN TEACHING METHODS. TEACHERS RETURN TO NEW ZEALAND. (Per United Press Association.) Auckland, March 26. Two passengers by the Aorangi were Misses McMurray and Emerson, the latter being a daughter of Police Superintendent Emerson of Wellington, after seven months spent in New Jersey, U.S.A., at Vineland training school for children whose minds are not normally developed. They had previously been in charge of a special class at Wellington for backward children and were granted leave of absence to train at Vinelands. They received modern instruction and had an opportunity to observe the methods and treatment which should make their future services in the cause of education most valuable.
