BALFOUR CLUB’S MEETING. The annual meeting of the Balfour Football Club was held in the Town Hail, on Wednesday evening and was attended by over 20 members. The president, Mr M. Rasmussen was in the chair. The balancesheet showed that the club was in a particularly healthy state—commencing with a credit balance of £4O 6/- Some very heavy expenditure was incurred, but the secretary was able to show a credit of £39 12/-. Various members spoke on the good working of the club during the year, the thanks for which were chiefly due to Mr M. Rasmussen (president) and A. L. Scobie (secretary). The adoption of the balance-sheet was carried amidst applause. Before vacating the chair Mr Rasmussen took the opportunity to thank members for assistance rendered him during the many years he was in the presidental chair. It was a pleasure to be associated with the club, and he would always do his best for it. He trusted the incoming president would experience the same goodwill as had been extended him. For the position of president, Mr Gordon Sproat was unanimously elected. Messrs R. Church, H. McLean and J. Ginivan were elected patrons of the club; vice-presidents, Messrs J. McMath, A. Rasmussen, C. Carmody and Geo. McGregor; auditor, C. Carmody; treasurer, A. Rasmussen; secretary; A. L. Scobie; committee, president, vicepresidents, treasurer, secretary and T. Condon; selectors; G. It was decided that the club pay half travelling expenses of all players during the coming year. Messrs J. Ginivan and Geo. McGregor were appointed a reception committee for visiting teams. An interesting discussion took place on the advisability of having the football ground lighted with electricity. The feeling of the meeting was practically unanimous on the subject, and the president and secretary were instructed to obtain quotations for the work and report at a future meeting. It was decided to hold a grand ball, any surplus to go towards the grounds lighting project. The opening of the season will take place shortly when a married vereus single tussle will eventuate. The club decided to donate a new football to the schoolboys. The sum of £4 4/- was voted the secretary for his good work during the past year.
