LADIES’ HOCKEY

SOUTHLAND ASSOCIATION MEETS. The fortnightly meeting of the Southland Ladies’ Hockey Association was held last evening, Mr P. Gilfedder presiding over the following members: Mrs Tattersfield, Misses I. Hardy, C. McGregor, Madge Kilby, Mary Mclntyre, L. Clifford, and Messrs J. S. Brass, E. H. Battin and R. Surgenor. CORRESPONDENCE. The secretary of the Collegiate Club wrote giving the names of 18 members who had signified their intention of joining any insurance scheme promoted.—Received. The secretary of the New Zealand Ladies’ Hockey Association forwarded 30 buttons for the members of the Southland representative teams.—Received. The headmaster of the Waikiwi school, Mr M. J. Leith, wrote stating that he could not see his way to take up hockey at the school this season. However the matter would be considered again next year. A letter was received from M. Stephens, Pukemaori school, stating that four or perhaps six schools in the district were anxious to hold a hockey competition. The association was asked to provide sticks.—lt was decided to forward the letter to the Western District for approval. TEAM OF FOUR PLAYERS. The action of a certain team in going on the fyld with only four players was discussed in committee, and finally it was decided to ask the English Hockey Association, through the New Zealand Association, for a ruling on the point. It was also agreed that players wishing to play outside the district must get permission from the association. TO-DAY’S FIXTURES. Following are to-day’s fixtures: Winton v. Invercargill at Winton, Progressive v. Collegiate. EASTERN DISTRICT FIXTURES. TEAMS FOR TO-DAY. The following players will represent the Wyndham A team against Hokonui A at Wyndham, at 2 p.m. to-day:—Misses Edna Stevens, Estrella Udy, Evelyn McDonald, Thelma Milne, Clara Hayes, Elsie Heydon, Vida Wilson (capt.), Lottie Heaps, Daisy Wilson, Violet Heaps and Reta Milne. Emergency:—Hazel Milne. The Hokonui team is as follows:—Misses O. Tutty, K. Hoffman, P. Crawford, E. Johnston, A. Hastings, J Wayte, C. Strachan, L. Briggs, H. Crawford, A. Hill and M. Nicol. Wyndham High School to play Gore High at Gore will be represented as follows:—Misses Ethel Lawrence, V. White, Leila Rice, Agnes McLaren, Thora Strang, Winnie Treynor, Netta McDonald, Mavis McDonald, Muriel Maguire, G. Aitken, Edith Lindsay. —B Grade.— Wyndham B to play Gore High School B at Wyndham at 3 p.m. will be represented by the following:—Misses Jean Smith, Doris Hayes (capt.), Eva Richardson, Annie Smith, Phyllis Milne, Margaret Williamson, Grace Hallman, Irene Ford, Harriet Cyighton, Inez Dunford and Dulcie Cook. Emergencies:—Polly Arnott, Betty Hunter, Nellie Ford. Wyndham High School a bye. The following players will represent Hokonui B against Mataura B:—Misses M. Bannerman, J. Smith, M. Shea, A. Tutty, R. Scott, C. Davis, M. Ferris, M. Collett, E. Collett, J. McGill and J. Simpson.
