CANCER RESEARCH

EMPIRE CAMPAIGN DISCOVERY OF CAUSE HOPED FOR DUKE OF YORK ELECTED PRESIDENT (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) London, July 12. The belief was expressed at a meeting of the Empire Cancer Campaign that the discovery of the cause will not long be delayed. Professor Horder said that there was a more hopeful tendency in recent research. The Duke of York, who was appointed President, wrote expressing his heartfelt hope that discoveries would soon be made. The Council acceded with the greatest satisfaction to the Sydney University Committee’s application for affiliation, and empowered it to nominate a representative to the council. The Duke of York, referring to Professor Goodwin’s appointment, said: I know that his enthusiasm for the cause of cancer research will awaken much sympathy and help in Queensland. He congratulated the Sydney University on the formation of a research centre.—A. and N.Z.
