Cravats and Beltc

A considerable number of girls who are adopting the Byronic haircut and all varieties of “crops” and close cuts, arc wearing cravats and the close-fitting neck-wear makes a striking change from recent “free neck” feminine fashions. The modern woman does not always stick to the sombre black masculine cravat, but is adopting all sorts of gay colours. Some of the new suits with waitcoats to match, for instance, are supplied with cravats in contrasting shades, for it is chiefly with such waistcoat suits that women will wear cravats this autumn. There is an art in tying the cravat, and women cravat-wearers spend a good deal of time practising in front of the glass before they become perfect in the fixing of their new neckgear. Belts of all sorts are extremely important in the realm of accessories this season. Chief among these novelties is gold braid, which is often finished with a knot; other designs show quaint acorn beads. Multicoloured braid twisted in any unconventional manner is counted smart and extraordinary filigree effects obtained with pieces of silver attached to narrow strips of leather are shown, also novel arrangements of the still admired snakeskin. A set combining collar, cuffs and pocket is new. One charming ’set of wine-coloured leather, edged with silver, was ornamented with a broderie anglaise design, picked out with silver beads. Attached to the belt was an ingenious pocket embroidered to match.
