A NEW CABINET M. BRIAND IN CHARGE APPEAL FOR HARMONY. (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) Paris, June 16. M. Briand has agreed to form a Cabinet. —Reuter. THE BRIANt) WAY. (Rec. 8.45 p.m.) Paris, June, 16. M. Briand set himself the task of forming a Cabinet on a broad basis. He has issued a statement appealing to the political groups to sink their differences and make an effort of abnegation and self-sacrifice to unite in the best interests of the country and consecrate themselves to financial reconstruction which if not easy is at least possible.—Reuter. DESTINED TO FAILURE. Paris, June 16. M. Briand’s project seems destined to failure. In view of the fact that in Congress, the Radical and Socialist parties carried resolutions opposing the formation of a Cabinet, the National Union, while declaring its willingness to support any Republican Government, are determined to restore the financial position. The newspapers anticipate that as a result of this decision M. Herriot will refuse to participate in the new Government.
