GORE STOCK SALE. A FAIR MARKET. There was a fair attendance at the fortnightly sale at Gore yesterday, the entry taken sll over being slightly below that of the previous sale. Values remained steady and very few lots were passed in. SHEEP. There were some fairly good fats forward, and wethers made up to 32/6 and ewes up to 27/-. A small yarding of store sheep was forward, and the market was about on a par with recent sales. Sound-mouthed ewes realised 35/3, and full and failing sorts up to 22/-. Forward lambs changed hands at up to 24/-. Sales were as follow: Southland Farmers* Co-operative Association Ltd.: 71 4, 6 and 8-tooth ewes 35/3, 2 wethers 16/6. National Mortgage and Agency Co., Ltd.: 76 f. and f. ewes 21/1, 152 do. 22/-. Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd.: 21 fat wethers 32/6, 47 lambs 24/-, 36 fat ewes 23/6, 19 do. 27/-. Passed in: 15 fat wethers 30/-, 81 store wethers 26/-, 19/- fat ewes 21/-, 7 do. 17/6, 36 store ewes 24/-. Dalgety and Co., Ltd.: Passed in: 25 fat wethers 28/-, 28 do. 31/-. CATTLE. A few head of good ox beef were forward, and prime sorts realised from £l3 to £l5, these prices being realised for steers sold on behalf of Mr W. D. Hunt, Invercargill, to Mr R. Wyber, Mataura. Another good beast was sold by the Southland Farmers’ Co-operative Association on account of Mr W. Kingdon, Croydon, at £l4 2/6 to Mr J. Howard, Gore. Other lighter sorts made up to £8 5/-. Fat cows and heifers changed hands at from £5 to £6 17/6. In the store pens forward steers realised up to £8 7/6, while young steers changed hands at £4 10/- down to £2. Dairy heifers coming in for the factory realised from £3 10/- to £4 15/-. Sheep: Thirty ewes at 17/-. OTAUTAU HORSE SALE. Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report having held a most successful horse sale at Otautau. There were 32 horses sold, the top prices being obtained by Mr W. Ford, Isla Bank, for a three-year-old gelding and three-year-old mare. These were great specimens, the former realising £46, and the latter £4O.
