THE EX-EMPEROR OF KOREA. TOKIO, April 5. A despatch from Seoul reports that the ex-Emperor of Korea is seriously ill. —Reuter. Prince Yi-Chok was born on March 25, 1874, and succeeded his father, Li-Kiung, on the latter’s abdication on July 20, 1907. He was reckoned as the thirty-first in succession since the founding of the dynasty in 1392. By a treaty concluded between Japan and Korea on August 22, 1910, the Korean territory was formally annexed to the Empire of Japan. The Emperor was deprived of all political power, and was accorded the title of Prince Yi. The title of the country was changed back to “Chosen,” and the office of Japanese Gover-nor-General established.
