CHRISTIAN WOMENS’ AUXILIARY CONFERENCE. The sixth annual conference of the New Zealand Christian Women’s Auxiliary was opened at the Y.M.C.A. buildings, Invercargill, on Saturday, April 3. The devotional exercises were conducted by Mrs T. Pryde. In the absence of Mrs H. Callam, the Dominion President, the business sessions were presided over by Miss Neil, of Dunedin. Mrs. J. Watt extended a hearty welcome to delegates and visiting sisters, and Mrs A. Botting, of South Dunedin, replied on behalf of the visitors. Miss Turner, Dominion financial secretary, presented the executive report and balancesheet, which showed that the finances were in a satisfactory condition. Reports of advisory auxiliaries, mission circles and bands were presented and adopted. Mrs. T. Pryde presented the obituary report. The , following * members have entered into their rest: Sisters Oldfield and A. Turner (Auckland), Inkersell (Wellington), W. Turner (N.E. Valley), B. Mercer and Bro. A. Thompson and J. Pearce (Dunedin). As the next general will be held in Auckland the C.W.A. executive will be located there. The following officers were elected: President, Mrs H. Callam. Corresponding secretary, Miss Hadden. Receiving secretary, Mrs Cartwright. Financial secretary, Miss Turner. Treasurer, Miss Petherick. The conference decided to continue support. to the Home Mission stations at Gisborne and St. Albans. At the request of the Foreign Mission Board, it was decided to assist in the support of Sister Marjorie Benjamin at Bulawayo, South Africa. The conference was brought to a close by a public meeting in the Church of Christ. Teviot street, on Monday evening. Miss Neil, President of the South Island Advisory Committee, occupied the chair. Musical items were rendered by Mrs Double, Mr Carpenter and the choir, under the leadership of Mr Holmes. Miss P. Hay, of the Kaitangata Mission Circle, read a letter from Sister Benjamin descriptive of her mission work and life in Bulawayo. Miss J. Petherick, of Auckland, read a letter from Sister Myrtle Cole, of the Poona Mission, giving some aspects of “Village Life in India.” A fine paper written by Mrs Musket, of Auckland, on “Lives that are Used” was read by Miss Turner. Mrs Riches, who with her husband, is leaving New Zealand shortly, to labour on the Mission, Station at Belingive, South Africa, gave an inspiring address. Mrs Duxfield (Wanganui) gave a farewell message from the conference to Mrs Riches and presented her with a gift contributed by the audience. The meeting closed with prayer by Mrs J. Watt and the C.W.A. Benediction.
