MEASUREMENT OF BOATS. MEETING OF AUCKLAND ASSOCIATION. (Per United Press Association.) Auckland, March 19. Betty complied with the measurements laid down for the Jellicoe boats taking part in the Sanders Cup contests came up for discussion at a meeting of the Auckland Yacht and Motor Boat Association. Mr Kelly, who represented Auckland at the Dominion Council in Dunedin, stated that Betty was allowed to take part in the contests because she had been granted two certificates before a Justice of the Peace stating that her measurements were correct. In view of this the Dominion Council decider! to allow her to race. The ight Avalon was chosen to represent Auckland in the contest the Auckland association received a letter from Christchurch asking whether the four boats from Canterbury— Noe. 1,2, 3, and 4—were eligible to take part in the contest. One of them did not comply with the measurements and the Canterbury association was advised accordingly. Mr Kelly stated that he had very carefully measured Avalon and not a single measurement was l-16th of an inch out. She was the true Rona type of boat. He expressed the opinion that the only satisfactory way to measure all boats was by the use of master iron or steel moulds. The contest had clearly shown that the Rona type was the much superior design of boat and had the remit from the Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club been dealt with after the contest instead of before he felt sure that all the provinces would have agreed to allow only the Rona type of boat to take part in future conThe association decided to forward a lettpr to the Canterbury association congratulating that body on winning the
