LAND BOARD

THE MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Land Board was held yesterday afternoon. Present were the Commissioner of Crown Lands (Mr N. C. Kensington, Messrs H. J. Middleton, J. Carmichael, J. Fleming and J. Hargest. TRANSFERS. Lot 5 of Sec. 30 Blk. XVI Town of Gore, 2r. 16p., Douglas Thomas McGill to Henrietta Turnbull.—Approved subject to renewal lease being accepted at £3 per annum. Sec. 24 Blk. 11 Otautau town, 1 rood, James Kerr to Sarah Jane Morgan.—Approved. Sec. 14 Blk. VIII Waikaka, 13ac. 3r. 30p., David and W r alter Graham to Archibald Meikle.—Approved. CORRESPONDENCE. The South Invercargill Borough submitted proposed expenditure of “thirds” “fourths” and “halves” which have accrued to July 31, 1925 for approval of Land Board, amount 17/-.—Approved. The Conservator of Forests requested approval by the Land Board of two schedules of “fifths” and “tenths.” The first schedule was for amounts accrued to September 30, 1925. amounting to £95 5/5, and the second schedule for amounts accrued to December 31, 1925, £45 13/8. The Southland County Council had filled in their proposals for expenditure.—Approved. The Commissioner reported that Mrs M. C. McVicar had declined the Land Board’s offer of a year to year license at £1 per annum over Section 66 and Crown land between Secs. 66, 68, 70, 71, Tuatapere extension No. 2 and Boundary Creek.—Existing license over Section 66 cancelled as from May 23. Mr. D. Jensen applied for a license to remove gravel from part of Run 424 New River hundred and enclosed consent of the licensee of the run. —Acceptance of partial surrender of 30 acres Run 242 recommended for approval and thereafter three years provisional license granted at rental of £5 per annum and 3d a yard royalty on gravel removed. Survey to be effected at expense of applicant. The Commissioner suggested that License OLM. 1504 in name of Hugh Erskine be cancelled as from l/7/’26 and that a year to year license from that date be granted over Section 5 of 8 Block 1 Alton S.D., 29 acres 2 roods at a rental of £5 per annum; Messrs Birch and Company to have the right to enter on this area to maintain and keep in order the channel used by them for removal of sawdust.—Commissioner’s minute approved. The Commissioner suggested that the two temporary licenses held by Catherine Boulter be cancelled as from 28/9/’26 and that thereafter a year to year right, with permission to cultivate and permission to remove buildings and fencing, be granted to her over Section 2 of S Block 1 Alton District, 11 acres 3 roods 8 perches, at a rental of £2 per annum.—Commissioner’s minute approved. The Commissioner suggested that licenses OLM 1857 (tram rights) and OLM. 1864 (sawmill site) be cancelled as from 21/0/’26 and that from that date William Henry Birch be granted a year right over Section 4 or 8 Block 1 Alton District 43 acres 3 roods 33 perches at a rental of £l2 per annum with the right to use the area for mill site and to construct tramway in connection therewith. —Commissioner’s minute approved.
