WAIAU CLUB’S FIXTURE
SECOND ANNUAL GATHERING. (Our Special Reporter.) The second annual* gathering of the Waiau Collie Club was opened at Clifden yesterday to the accompaniment of fine weather. The sheep proved to be somewhat hard to manage, but nevertheless some good work was put in during the day. Three events, the maiden heading and long and double pulls, were completed and resulted : MAIDEN HEADING, distance 400yds. (Head and hold in ring; tone 8 minutes;. R. Gardner’s Bob, 29pts1 E. A. Sim’s Tweed, 28ptst T. Bryan’s Help, 28pts t ■rDead heat second. LONG PULL, about 500yds. (To be held in ring and yarded; time 12 minutes). A. Miller’s Kip, 37ptsf J. B. Purdue’s Sweet, 37ptst J. B. Purdue’s Don, 35pts3 tDead heat first. DOUBLE PULL. (To be held in ring; time 12 minutes). A. Miller’s Snub, 43pts1 T. Harris’s Storm, 40pts2 T. Reidy’s Jet, 39pts3 The trials are being continued to-day, there being three events yet to be decided.
