ANNUAL CONFERENCE YESTERDAY’S PROCEEDINGS RESUSCITATING ASSOCIATIONS. (Per United Press Association.) * Dunedin, Mar. 17. The annual conference of the New Zealand Master Grocers’ Federation was continued to-day. The conference urged the executive to take steps to resuscitate the associations at Christchurch and Palmerston North. An invitation from the North Taranaki Association to hold next year’s conference in New Plymouth was accepted. On the motion of Mr J. Henderson, the retiring president, Mr John Mcllraith (Wellington), was elected to the presidency. It was decided that the headquarters for the ensuing year be in Auckland, the Auckland Association to appoint a committee and also secretary and treasurer. The following Wellington remit was carried—“ That this federation takes immediate steps to become affiliated with the New Zealand Employers’ Association, with definite instructions to the executive to watch any further legislation affecting the trade of the Dominion. A paper on the survival of the fittest by Mr A. R. Masters (Stratford) was read. It urged that men entering business should be equipped with a knowledge of finance and trading methods. The conference was entertained at lunch by the Nugget Company, and visited manufactories during the afternoon.
