VALUELESS CHEQUES

MAN COMMITTED FOR SENTENCE. (Per United Press Association.) Palmerston North, Mar. 17. William Clifford Ballam pleaded guilty and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence on a charge of forging a valueless cheque. Accused obtained the cheque form from a farmer’s wife and filled it in for the amount of £lO 10/6, and signed the name of Glen, an Oroua farmer, obtained from the telephone directory. Accused rang up a - local firm advising them that a young man would be in to cash a cheque.
