SUMMER TIME
PERMANENCE PROPOSED IN ENGLAND. (By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright). (Sun Cable.) LONDON, March 13. Despite the agriculturists’ opposition, the House of Commons read a second time, by 288 votes to 63. Mr Lambert Ward’s Bill permanently fixing summertime, instead of a periodical re-enactment. Sir William Joynson-Hicks declared that if on a free vote the House carried the second reading the Government would take over the Bill and give facilities for its early passage.
