KING AT REGATTA

TRAGEDY MARKS THE DAY. LONDON, August 3. The King’s yacht Britannia, with the King on board, won the principal event at the Southampton Royal Yacht Club’s Regatta. Unfortunately, the regatta was marred by a tragedy, the first mate of the Shamrock falling overboard during the race, and being drowned. Efforts by those on board the yacht to save him were unsuccessful, and the yacht withdrew from the race. The King sent a message of condolence to Sir Thomas Lipton and the crew.
