AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE
SUGGESTED SITE AT LEVIN. PRIME MINISTER PROMISES CONSIDERATION. (Per United Press Association.) LEVIN, August 25. During the visit of the Prime Minister to Levin to-day, a deputation representing the agricultural and commercial interests urged on him the advantages of the central development from here as a site for the proposed Agricultural College. The farm consists of 800 acres with necessary buildings and is at present used by the Agricultural Department for experimental purposes. The advantages claimed were: Central position, climate, and quality of the land. Mr Massey, in reply, admitted the necessity for an Agricultural College. He said that the Government had not yet decided where it should be located. The decision lay with the Ministers of Education and Lands, who would probably make a recommendation in the near future. The Government did not need to go outside its own property, having farms at Levin and Ruakura, as well as those given by Mr W. Perry, of Masterton and Mr Howard, of Hawke’s Bay. He could not say which of these would be decided upon but the matter would receive early consideration.
