NEXT ELECTION

THE WAIKATO SEAT. GETTING IN EARLY. (Per United Press Association.) TE AWAMUTU, June 21. Interest in the selection of Reform candidates for the Waikato seat at the next election is growing. A conference of branch delegates on July 2 here will make the final selection. The aspirants already announced are Mr A. C. Dent (Kawhia), Mr J. T. Johnson (Te Awamutu), and Mr D. S. Reid (Ngahinapouri). Messrs Dent and Johnston both contested the' seat at last election. Mr Reid is chairman of the Waipa County Council.

Other probables are Mr Mervyn Wells (Cambridge), and Major Samuel Tirau. The present member, Mr Lye, will definitely seek re-election in the Liberal interests. There is no indication so far of Labour candidates.
