7 EASTERN DISTRICT SUB-UNION. WEEKLY MEETING. The weekly meeting of the Management Committee of the Eastern District sub-Union held on Thursday evening, was attended by Messrs F. Wallis (chairman), Murray, Whittingham, Martin, Mac Gibbon, H. Wallis, and Green. Apologies were received from Messrs Fitzgerald and Piller. The secretary, Albion F.C., wrote suggesting that, as the playing of three rounds in the second-grade competition would make the season rather long, the third round consist, say, of the four leading teams only.— Received, and held over in the meantime. The secretary, Albion F.C., wrote asking for a regrade for N. Burns.—Granted. The secretary, Northern District subUnion, wrote asking the E.D.S.U. to suggest dates for the annual representative fixtures. His Union wished that the first senior game be played at Riversdale, and the junior rep. game at Waikaia. —It was decided to suggest the following dates for representative matches: West Otago, August 20; Northern District, August 27, for both the senior match and the junior match. The secretary was directed to ask the Southland Union to suggest a date for the return match, Town v. Eastern. Messrs G. W. Whittingham, H. Wallis, and F. Murray were appointed to select the junior representative team. The secretary, South Otago sub-Union, wrote confirming the date suggested for the annual inter-Union match,’ namely, July 12. —Received. The secretary reported that the Seaward Downs Seconds had defaulted to Albion on Wednesday last. No notice of the default had been received until 2.20 p.m. on Wednesday. The Albion Club wrote drawing attention to the inconvenience caused. The secretary also reported that the Wyndham HI had defaulted to Pioneer, notice being received at 1 p.m.—The secretary was instructed to write to the Seaward Downs and Wyndham Clubs, pointing out the necessity for notice being given before noon on the day of tfie match, and advising that a repetition of the offence would lead to a fine being inflicted. The Wyndham Club advised that it would have great difficulty in getting a team to Mataura on June 25 at 1.15 p.m.—lt was decided to ask the Mataura Grounds Committee to try to arrange to get the use of the school ground for the aJternoon, so that the match could be started at a more convenient time. It was decided to take up a collection at Mataura on June 25. The secretary, Wyndham F.C., advised that he had asked W. Farrington to forward an explanation of the incident on June 11.—The secretary reported that the explanation had not yet been received.—lt was resolved to hold the matter over for a week. Mr Murray reported that the services of Mr G. F. Ritchie as a referee would be available for the school matches.—Received. Mr Murray brought up the case of J. Belesky, of the Edendale team, who was seriously in jured in a recent game. Belesky expected to be off work for six weeks.— It was decided to write to the Edendale Club suggesting that a benefit match be arranged.
