BOOSTING SOUTHLAND

PARLIAMENTARY TOUR SUGGESTED. “Southland’s claims are often ignored in the north,” said Mr P. de la Perrelle, MP yesterday, “and it is my intention to try and get the Southland League to invite northern Members to Southland, so that they can judge for themselves the possibilities of the province.” He went on to say that he was confident that many northern Members did not know anything about Southland and Southland suffered through their ignorance. Two or three years ago a similar tour was conducted, but many of the then members have since retired to private life. “Something is required ” he concluded,” and I am satisfied that if we get them here they will go awav with a different idea of Southland.”
