IRISH FREE STATE

APPEAL TO LEAGUE OF NATIONS. ON QUESTION OF BOUNDARIES. (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association). LONDON, September 17. The Daily Chronicle’s diplomatic correspondent has been informed that the Irish Free State proposes to lodge an appeal praying that the League of Nations adjudicate in the matter of boundaries between itself and Ulster. Should this be so, the Free State, for all practical purposes, would be abrogating to itself the powers of a sovereign State, independent in every way of the British Empire. If the appeal is made the greatest interest would be taken in England as to the League’s competence to sit in judgment on what in British eyes is entirely a domestic issue.
