COMPETITIONS SOCIETY
ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE FESTIVAL. The. Invercargill Competitions Society held a meeting last evening to make final arrangements in connection with the forthcoming festival, which opens in the Victoria Hall on Monday afternoon. Mr D. Wesney presided and reported that 920 entries had been received. This was the third highest ever received for a local festival, and was an advance of 230 an those received last year. The Society had received excellent support in every direebon anti the prospects for the success of the festival were highly encouraging. It was also reported that no diffienfty had been experienced in receiving ad vertMemeiu* for the programmes, which would be ready on the following day. It was decided to charge sixpence admission for afternoon sessions, but if holders of season tickets dewired it they would be admitted on a punch, being taken out of their ticket. The secretary reported that 260 season tickets had been sold. Supervisors were appointed for thr writing and drawing competitions foi; which large entries have been received.
