BISHOP LISTON
ECHO OF RECENT TRIAL. REQUEST TO AUCKLAND COUNCIL (Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, August 10. The City Council has received the following letter from Mr Conlan, legal adviser to Dr Liston: "I have been instructed by His Lordship Bishop Liston to communicate with you regarding an entry in the minute book of the City Council purporting to record certain resolutions passed al a meeting of the Council on March 23, 1922. The minutes contain imputations against ibe reputation of Bishop Liston. Indeed, they go &s far us to impute to him that he committed a crime, iiu* (kiuucil must now be aware that the result of the reoent trial was to establish th:r such imputation was an unfounded one. I have, therefore, on Bishop Listen s behalf, lo request that steps be taken by the Council to expunge the.-e minutes and io ask you to inform me at the earliest poab'Bible date whether this will lx* dene.
