MOUNT MORGAN MINE. NEW PROPOSAL FROM THE COMPANY. (By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) BRISBANE, June 20. Mr Theodore has announced that he has received a communication from the Mount Morgan Company proposing sliding scale terms for resumption of work, to be bettered as the copper and gold markets improve. Mr Theodore added that the proposal would possibly lead to resumption. He was submitting it to the unions. AFFAIRS IN NEW ZEALAND. WELLINGTON WATERFRONT DISPUTE, (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, June 20. There has been no change in connection with the dispute caused by the refusal of the watersiders to unload 5000 tons of Newcastle coal from the barque Alice A. Leigh. The matter will be considered at a meeting of the National Disputes Committee to be held to-morrow. In the meantime w'ork on other vessels is proceeding. AUCKLAND SLAUGHTERMEN’S DISPUTE. AUCKLAND, June 20. The slaughtermen’s dispute at the city abattoirs continues, and the secretary of the Butchers’ Union stated to-night that it was likely to go on for six months. Meanwhile small butchers in the city are killing their own stock. The City Council is taking steps to engage fresh hands for slaughtering work.
