POPULAR PICTURE PALACE. Owing to the delay by floods, the advertised programme, “The Reckoning Day,” was not screened but patrons were not losers on this account as the management fortunately were able to substitute a delightful World production, “The Haunting Shadows,” with a star cast including Kitty Gordon, Montague Love, and George McQuarrie. ‘Ticturesque Washington” a beautiful scenic of the “Capitol” city of U.SA. is extremely interesting and “Guzzle’s Easy Day” a twoact Keystone comedy, starring Syd. Chaplain, was responsible for uproarious laughter. ALBION THEATRE. The production for to-night is a triangle drama entitled “The Atom.” In this drama, starring Pauline Starke, with Belle Bennett and Harry Mestayer, quite a novel story is presented. It has pathos and humour intertwined, and the star and her supporting cast are responsible for remarkably fine portrayals. The story deals with a matinee idol who loses his good looks in a theatre fire and a little household drudge who saves him from suicide when distracted with his misfortune. Her action misunderstood, they lake to the road, and he uses his great histrionic ability as a medium for introducing to the world certain death-defying pellets, which are a panacea for all ills. Success meets them and the little romance terminates with promise of lifelong happiness. It is a charming story admirably presented and should not fail * to please. Comedies, topicals and educational pictures are also included in the programme. j
