LOSS OF THE WIMMERA
RESENTMENT OF COLONIAL SEAMEN. (By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) SYDNEY, July 11. Received July 11, 1.10 p.m. The loss of the Wimmera has led the seamen to endorse Mr Havelock Wilsons views. An official of the Seamen’s Union said: “ There will not be any foreigners aboard a British vessel, even after peace has been declared, if we can prevent it.”
CAPTAIN KELL’S RECENT LETTER,
PLENTY OF MINES ABOUT. HOBART, July 11. Received July 11, 10.10 p.m. Captain Kell, of the Wimmera, wrote to a Hobart merchant some weeks ago: “There seems to be a- good and ample supply of mines round the coast. I haven’t lost any sleep through them. Maybe I will get an early rise one of these mornings.”
