A COUNCIL EPISODE.
To the Editor. Sir,—l think it is most annoying to read what passed between Councillor Tom O’Byrne and Councillor Martin. Our Labour representative was quite within his rights in supporting the letter that the General Labourers had sent in to the Council. Now, Sir, I think it was a downright insult to Labour for Councillor Martin to mention beer In the ■way that he did, but I was very pleased indeed to see the way our representative met the remarks. Tom was one too many for him, especially when he put down his fiver, and as a worker I strongly protest against Councillor Martin sitting at the Council table pulling everyone to pieces the way that he is doing, with the exception of his colleague (Councillor Bain). 1 ask Councillor Martin to resign his seat and stand for re-election and see bow he gets on. I will give him ago for it. If there is any of the men left in him he will accept this challenge. Even when the matter of the tramway route came up be had to' be a bit sarcastic by asking the Mayor if he had any property in Clyde street. If one wanted to be inaultlng one could ask Councillor Martin some very funny questions. I feel ex- - ceedingly sorry for some of our councillors who are really good men. These gentlemen must have a sorry time of it listening to the grand delivery of the - awn who wear the caps.—l am, etc., WORKER.
