OTic appointment of Charles Cecil Moffett as lieutenant in the New Zealand Dental Corps is gazetted.
An Auckland telegram records the deatli of Mr J. J. Craig, shipowner and head of the Arm of Craig aJJrt Co.; carriers. Airs Von Tunzelman lias received word through the Y.M.C.A. that her son, Private Victor Von Tunzelman, recently wounded in action in France, is in the Third Southern Hospital Oxford, and is convalescent and doing well. Private cables received from Lieutenant T. V. Seddon, M.P., and Dieutenant Stuart Seddon, R.H.A., state that they are Avel! The cables have come to hand since tiie. recent German attack on the New Zealand trenches. The brothers met in France. Stuart Seddon had just served three months in (he front trenches, and had come through safely. Word wigs also received from Mrs Wood (nee Ruby Seddon) that her husband, Fleetsurgeon Wood, who is well known to many New Zealanders, was transferred to H.M.S. Zealandia as fleet surgeon, and -had served in her in the Jutland battle. In a list of land agents registered under the Dand Agents Act 1012, which appears in the X. Z. Heath has levied a heavy toil on the family of the Speaker of the Legislative Council, Hon. C. J. Johnston. During the past lew weeks the wife of his eldest son, Brigadier-General Johnston, who left with the Expeditionary Force in charge of the artillery, died in Egypt, whither she had gone to be near ne.v husband. His son-in-law (Major Levin) received his death wound while commanding the. rearguard in the evacuation of Gallipoli, and his widow, overwhelmed ■with grief, followed him in death not more than three weeks ago. On Saturday last came the news of the death In battle of the youngest of four gallant sons who left New Zealand to fight for their country.
