PRIME MINISTER AT TIMARU

VIEWS DROUGHT-STRICKEN COUNTRY. (Per United Press Association.) TIMARU, January IT. Mr Massey came down from Christchurch to-day, and in company with Mr .1. Craigie and Mr W. Nosworthy, M.P.'s, was motored over some of the Tima.ru Downs country to look at the crops ami pastures as affected hy the drought. Mr Massey said lie had seen nothing worse in any part of New Zealand. He also received a few deputations before returning. Asked how the local patriotic committee could assist in recruiting, Mr Massey said that details w'ould be furnished shortly.
