RAIN GENERAL. (Per United Press Association.) ' AUCKLAND. April 2. Heavy rain has fallen almost throughout the day and completely spoilt the holiday. About, two and a-half inches had fallen up to three o’clock and it is understood that several shop collars have suffered liy .storm water. In a cellar belonging to a picture frame maker damage to Ihe extent of about £ll3 has been done. WELLINGTON. April 2. Heavy wind and a downpour of rain tills morning made things unpleasant for those contemplating outings in Wellington. but by mid-day the weather hail cleared up and the afternoon was tine, but tiie breezy morning showers caused a postponement of the provincial tennis championship meeting. There was a great attendance Locally the holiday yesterday was marred by rain which is general all over New’ Zealand. The wind was biting and sharp and several hail storms were experienced durilfc the day. At a late hour last night the glass had an upward tendency.
