FARMERS’ UNION
BALFOUR BRANCH. The Balfour branch of the Banners’ Union was held *on Saturday. Six new members were elected, bringing; the total membership up to slxtyslx, and placing tills branch nearly at the top of the list. It was decided to hold the annual meeting on April 23, and a special meeting at an early date will he held to consider the advisableness of erecting sheep and cattle yards at Balfour. The responsibility ’of auctioneers under the Act was discussed, and this matter will be contained in a remit, which will be forwarded to the provincial conference for consideration. WOODLANDS BRANCH. The annual general meeting of the Woodlands branch of the Union was held on Monday, when there was a large attendance of members. Seven new members were elected. Discussions took place on various subjects and several remits were passed for submission to the provincial conference.
Office-bearers for the ensuing year were elected as follow —Chairman. Mr S. S. Laidlaw: vice-president, Mr J. Campbell; secretary, Mr J. L. McKerchar; committee, Messrs Job.n Sadlier. Janies McKerchar. J. T. Stewart, William Sadlier, P. Milne, B. M. King and W. Clark; delegates to provincial conference, Messrs Laidlaw and Campbell.
