Axemen's Carnival

Iho Committee of tho 1903 Axemen's Carnival met on Saturday evening, VicePresident Mr T. O'Byrne occupying the chair, and a good number of members being in attendance.

Correspondence was. read from the Simmonds Saw Manufacturing Co., Mass, and the Atkins Saw Compauv, New York, in reference to the next carnival. A good deal of rivalry seems to exjst between these Arms, and thoy are Jioth anxious to secure the champion events with their Saws. The Simmonds Co. imnour.ced- that thoy were prepared to} spend _00 dollars in getting representatives for their saws into training, if there was a chance of getting really good men. The Atkins Co. already havo Mr I'ettit, who with his mate, won the championship event last year. A long discussion took i:>lace on the letter from; the. Simmonds Company, the general opinion boing thnt a match between the rival Arms would be a big draw. The local champions are evidently anxious to have the honour of representation, and it was decided that the selection of the best pair would be made «t Clifton Atb-
