Dunedin Markets. (By Telegraph.) Dunedin, Aug. 14. Fab Cattle-157 head yarded, one-half good to prime, a few extra heavy. Beet beef met with a very good demand, and realised prices fully up to last week’s, while unfinished had but scant attention, several pens being turned out unsold. Best bullocks brought L9los to Lil 12s Od ; medium to good, L 7 10s to L 9 2s 6d ; light weights, L 4 12s 6d to LB 12s od, best cows, L 7 10s to L 8 17s 6d-two pens extra prune and heavy, L9lss to LIO 17s 6d ; medium to good, L 6 15s to L 7 2s Od ; light and aged, L 3 to L 5 2s 6d. Fat Steep—2 Boo penned. Competition for prime wether mutton was again very good, indeed all sorts had very good attention, last week’s prices being fully maintained. Best crossbred wethers brought Us 6d to 15s 9d—extra heavy, 16s ; good to best, 12s 3d to 13s Od; light, Us to 12s ; best do ewes, 13s to 13s 9d —one pen extra heavy, 14s 6d ; medium, 12s to 12s 9d; light, 9s to Ils 6d ; merino wethers, 10s 3d. pjgg—7o were to hand, and met with a moderately fair demand, suckers fetching 4s 6d to 7s ; slips, 10s to 13s ; stores, 15s tails ; porkers, 20s to 225; baconers, 25s to 29s—a few extra heavy sows, 32s to 40s each. Wheat— The market is quiet. Stocks are gradually working down and will soon be in narrow compass. Holders of small lots are firm, and prices are well maintained, but until a decided improvement in values is apparent at Hark Lane there is no prospect of higher prices ruling locally. Prime milling Ttiscan and velvet, 3s lOd to 3s lid ; good to best,. 3s B}d to 3s 9Jd ; medium to good, 3s 8d to 3s BJd ; inferior to good, 3s 8d to 3s BJd; medium, 3s 3d to 3s Bd—(ex store; sacks weighed in : terms). Oats—The market remains in the same position. A few lines have been placed for shipment, but as buyers' limits do not come to holders’ expectations very little business is being done. A little more inquiry is springing up forpnme feed and milling, and sales have been made at an advance of id on prices previously offered. Quotations : Prime milling, stout and bright, Is S|d to Is 0a ; best short stout bright feed, Is 8d to Is ; medium to good, Is 6£d to Is 7d ; inferior to medium, Is 5a to Is 6d. Danish and long Tartars, in small lots suitable for seed, Is lOd to 2s—extra prime a shade more—(ex store; sacks extra: net). Barley —A moderate quantity is changing hands, mostly inferior and discoloured ; very little prime offering. Quotations : Prime malting, bright and full, 2s lOd to 3s; medium to good, 2s (id to 2s 9d ; milling, 2s to 2s 4d ; feed, Is 6d to Is lid—(ex store; sacks extra : net).
