(Per Press Association). HAWERA, Aug. 14. The football match Wanganui v. Taranaki was won by the latter by 29 pointe (seven tries, two of which were converted, and a g»al from a mark) to nothing. CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 14. At a meeting of the Canterbury Women’s Institute the following motions were carried: —“ That this Institute pledges itself to adopt Mr Bolt’s resolutions and to forward as far as possible the election of Parliamentary candidates who are in favour of such a scheme “that this Institute indignantly condemns tho ac'iou of those members of the Legislative Council who voted against the amendment in clause 196 of the Criminal Code Act (raising the age of consent) and considers that such action in frustrating the legislation of the people’s representatives justifies the demand for the abolition of the Upper House.” DUNEDIN, Aug. 14. The directors of the Westport Coal Com. pany have declared an interim dividend at tho rate of 5 per cent, per annum for the half-year. The awards of Messrs Napier Bell, E. Cuthbert, and R. Hay in connection with the competitive schemes for the drainage and sewerage ofDunedin were, announced tonight. ■ The first prize was awarded to J. B. Henson (Newcastle, New South Wales), the second prize to Henry H. Metcalfe (Auckland), the third prize to John Halliday (Melbourne).
