During the southerly gale which raged throughout Sunday last, a slight accilent happened to the Craig Ellachie, brig, lying alongside the wharf, Tin; biigPakehu was moored in front of the Crnig, and on Sunday afternoon one of her bow lines parted, which allowed her to drift down to the Craig before her other bow lines brought her up. The figurehead of the Craig was carried away, and tho wheel of the Pakoha bent — no serious injury resulting to either. A fishing boat from Stewart's Island reports that the whaling barque Chance, saved the whale caught on the 15th inst,, and was in Port William trying it out. The s.s. Express arrived fram Dunedin at 9 p.m. on the 22nd inst., after encountering tho strong S.W. gale which has raged duri *g the last three days. A series of gales was then experienced during the run through t lie straits. She is a three-masted schooner of 195 tens rejiater, and has a general cargo. Captain Claru, pilot for New River, came down this (Tnesday) afternoon to pilut the Estclle round, so that she may be expected at Invercargill first opportunity.
