. « • Messrs Wright, Stephenson. and Co. report for the week ending 22nd March as follows : — Fat Cattle.— ss head came forward. Our ■ales comprised 35 head, mostly good quality. Bullocks brought from £6 10» to £8 ss ; cowi, £4 10s to £6 12s 6d ; equal to 20s per lOOlba for good quality, and 18s for medium do. Fat Sheep. — The number penned was 250, which we sold as follows : — IOO haif-breds, fair quality, at 12e ; 150 merino wethers, medium quality, at 7a 6d. We also sold privately 500 merino wetheri, at 2£d per lb, at which figure we quote prime quality mutton. Fat Lambs. — The season beins; about over. the demand is smalL We sold TO at from 6s 6d to Bs. Store Cattle. — No transactions. Store Sheep.— We have numerous enquiries for ell classes, and could place considerable numbers at our quotations. We sold 4600 merino ewes, full-mouthed, at 4s 4d ; 2000 do, (a f6W broken- mouthed), at 4s. We quote halfbreds, 2 and 4-tooth, 10a to 12s ; do lambs, 8s to 8s 6d ; merino wethers, 4 and 6 -tooth, 6» 6d ; full-mouthed, 5s to 5s 6d ; merino ewes, 4 and 6-tooth, 6s 6d to 7s ; full-mouthed, 4s to 4s 6d. Country Sales.— On Tuesday, 18th instant, we held "a sale of dairy stock, at Green Island, on account ot Mr F. H. Townsend. There was a good attendance of buyers, and competition was brisk. Dairy cows brought from £2 10a to . £10 10s ; heifers, £2 to £4 ; horses, £11 to £25. On Thursday, we held a sale of farmers' stock, at North Taieri, on account of Mr J. Smeaton. Everything was disposed of at good prices. Dairy cows brought from £3 to £5 ; heifers, £2 to £4 ; yearlings, 30s ; draught horses, £22 to £49; light harness horses, £8 to £14; 500 fullmouthed merino ewes, 4s ; farming implements, satisfactory rates. On Friday, at West Taieri, we held a sale of 2000 full and broken-mouthed awes and 700 full-mouthed wethers, in middling condition. Buyers were numerous, and the prices obtained latisfactory. Ewes brought from 3s 2d to 3s 9d ; wethers, 4s 9d to 5s 3d. Horses.— Both draught and light harness bones are in demand. We sold at our yards on Saturday on account of various owners, 31 head, principally lieht stock, at from £8 to £12. W» quote, first -class draughts, £50 to £60 ; medium do, £27 to £33 ; good hacks and light harness horses, £18 to £30; medium do, £11 to £16 ; light and inferior, £3 to £6. Wool, Sheepskins, &c.-r— We held our sale of wool, sheespskine, «fec, on Thursday last, when we offered a few odd lots of wool and about 1000 Bheepskins, &c. There, was a fair attendance, but thejbiddings for the Tarious lots were decidedly JanguicP-^rne new* nrterrca vy iu D aiui« u confirming the telegrams already received of the decline in prices at the February sales being sufficient to deter buyers from operating (for the presea tat least) except at a considerable reduction on lat» rates. Tallow. — We sold several lots inferior at £21 to £32 per ton. Hides continue in good demand , and heavy weights are worth from 23d to 26s •ach. Grain. — Wheat continues in fair demand, and good samples are worth 4s 6d per bushel. Oats are wanted. Feed are worth 2s 2d to 2s 3d per buehel ; milling, 2s 4d. Barley, scarce ; good samples would command 6s 6 i to 7s.
