Special attention is called to section 22, block LXX., having 165 feet frontage to Dee street, at present occupied by Mr Tapper as a timber yard. MAKAREWA EOAD ASSESSMENT. THE Makarewa Road Board hereby give notice that at their meeting on the 15th March instant, they made for the year ending 30th June, 1873, a general rate of one shilling in the pound, on all rateable property within the district, and a apecial rate of sixpence in the pound on all rateable property within the Winton subdivision of the district. All rates must be paid to the collector on or before the 31at instant. The Valuation and Rate Book lies open for inspection at his house, Ryal Bush. Any appeal to the Board against the valuation must be lodged in writing with the Clerk before the 29th inst. For the convenience of settlers he will attend at the Junction Hotel, J Waikiwi, on Monday and Tuesday, the 24th and 25th inst., from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and at Mr White's Hotel, Winton, on Wednesday and Thursday, the 26th and 27th inst., from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., for the purposes of showing the Valuation and Rat* Book, receiving payment of the assessment, and receiving any written appeal against the Valuation. AMENDED NOTICE. SIX PEE CENT. SEALED TENDERS will be received up to 2 p.m. of Wednesday, the 26th March, 1873, for Seventy (70) Fifty Pound (£SO) Debentures, to have a currency of twenty years from the date of issue, and bear interest at the rate of six per cent, per annum, payable half-yearly in Dunedin j or Invercargill. The highest or any tender not necessarily accepted. Tenders to be endorsed " Tender for Debentures." I The interest on the loan will be a first charge on the rates, and the Debentures will be redeemable by a sinking fund invested by trustees appointed by the Superintendent. The n?oney raised is to be expended on the drainage of the town and the formation of streets. The rates for the financial year ending 19th April, 1872, amounted to £1046 9s, of which £19 4s remains unpaid. The total revenue for 1872 was £3002. The rates for the year ending 19th April,lß73, amount to £1230. The finaaeial position of the Corporation is shown by the balance sheet, published in the Provincial Government Gazette ef 15th January last.
