INVERCARGILL DISTRICT ROAD BOARD.
A meeting of the Invercargill District Road Board was held at Oampbelltown in the Golden .Age Hotel, on Saturday, 22nd inet There were present Messrs Hare (chairman), Tucker, Waddel, Smith, Brown, Gilmour, and Angus. On the motion of MYWaddel, seconded bj Mr Angus, it was resolved that the Board was willing to join with the Towm Council of Invercargill in the construction of the Appleby Road, that clause 60 of the Otago Koads Ordinance empowered the Board to do so, and that the Cl»rk be instructed to furnish the Council with the amount of the lowest tender for the work, and to request that the Council contribute ita proportion of the lame. The tenders for the work on the Appleby Road were then opened, and the lowest, James Murray's, for £135, was accepted. The tender of George Brown, £59, for work on the Waihopai Mill Road, was accepted. For the road from Campbelltown to the Pilot Station, the tender of D. M'Dou^all, £132, was accepted. The Board then resolved that the Engineer be requested to prepare plans and specifications for the following works: — Formation and gravelling 35 chains Clifton road; formation and ditching at Kew ; formation and gravelling of road from the East Road to the Presbyterian Mans» ; formation and gravelling of Lowe street, Harrisville, from its eastern boundary as far as built upon ; tenders for those works to be called for before the next meeting of the Board. A discussion then ensued regarding further works in the Waihopai subdivision, but no decision was arrived at, and the Board adjourned till Wednesday, 9th April, members to be advised of the hour and place of meeting by circular.
