A deputation proceeds to Wellington to interview Ministers relative to the concessions required for the West Coast railway. At Messrs Driver, Stewart and Co.'s wool sales there was a large attendance, and the bidding was spirited. The decline ranged from Id to 2d, the latter on choicer qualities. Greasy was a little in demand. Medium to inferior greasy realised wifchin Id of the prices obtained early in the season. Of 675 bales catalogued, 327 were sold. The negotiations to sell the waterworks to the Corporation have been broken off until the Corporation can get a Bill passed authorising the issue of 50 years' debentures. A correspondent of the Otago Daily Times vouches for seeing a live moa at the Waiau.
