RIVERRTON.

* (PHOM A COEBESPONDEWT.) Rivebton, March 29. A meeting of the Shareholders of the Longwood Water Eace and Ground Sluicing Company, Limited, was held in accordance with the advertisement, at the Court House, Riverton, on Saturday, 27th inst, for the purpose of electing directors and a permanent manager. The meeting was numerousiy attended. Mr D. S. Lawlor was called to the Chair. The j Secretary stated that the amount entrusted to him for preliminary expenses had been expended in cutting lines and I the purchase of Miner's Eights (these rights were required by the company to enable them to hold the grant), also Mr Berndstein had prepared specifications and stated that a large proportion of the race was levelled and ready to be submitted to tender. It was proposed that the number of directors be limited to seven. The following gentlemen were elected, viz. : — Messrs H. Lyon, J. Pechell, M. Instone, A. G-arden, J. Surman, Richmond Rocke, and W. D. G-. Wood. It was agreed that the appointment of a permanent manager should be postponed till next Saturday evening (3rd March.) The Secretary was authorized to pay the additional expenses incurred since the last meeting, and it was further agreed — "That all matters relating to specifications, &c, submitted by Mr Berndstein, the advertising for tenders, &c, be left to the management of the directors." A vote of thanks was passed to the Chairman, and the meeting adjourned till Saturday, 3rd March. A meeting of the newly elected Directors was afterwards held in the Court House. Present — Messrs Surman, Lyon, G-orden, Rocke, and Pechell, Mr Pechell was called to the Chair. After carefully examining the specifications submitted by Mr Berndstein, it was decided, " that the Secretary be authorized to call for tenders in accordance with the specifications submitted by the Manager," and that a meeting be held at the Commercial Hotel, on Saturday, 30th March, at 8 p.m., for the purpose of opening the tenders.
