BAND CARNIVAL.

A meeting of the Carnival Committee was Mid on Thursday ovoning when there were present :—Messrs Hinchey (phair),. Weir, G . R. George, I). McKenzie. G. Steel. P. C. Andersen, R. H. Dixon, and J. Walker. A sub-committee reported having secured four really good prizes which, with twenty other prizes, would make a good art union. A letter was read and received from the Hon. Col. Secretary granting permission to hold an art union of works of art. Deckled that ten thousand art union tickets lie printed, in books of about 20 tickets each. Decided that a separate account for the Carnival be opened with the bank. On the motion of Messrs W. Hinchey and D. McKenzie, it was decided that the event be caked a. Grand Operatic Fair, and if possible the stalls and their attendants to represent scenes from various operas. Several members of the committee reported having secured some fine oil paintings as donations to the Operatic Fair.
