Durward Lely visited Invercargill for a three-nights season in April, 1898. He was a man of fine stage presence, and had a grand tenor voice. He was born in Arbroath, 'on the Scottish coast. He appeared in the Theatre Royal. The entertainment was of a very high order, entitled “Scottish Song and Story Recitals. —We are indebted to a reader for the foregoing particulars.
