INVERCARGILL HORSE MARKET
Messrs J. A. Mitchell and-Co. report as follows ; Our entry comprised 32 horses of all descriptions, principal amongst which was a lot of 15 draught mares and geldings offered on account of the Southland .Sawmilling Co. These horses, although rough-looking, were a healthy, good-moving lot. They were offered for unreserved sale, and the public bid up in a spirited manner, the result being that all the horses changed hands at prices highly satisfactory to the vendors, viz. ; Best sorts £44 to £36, others £34 to £25, aged £2O to £ll 10s. On account of othe rvendors we sold useful draughts at up to £BS ; one 3-year-old unbroken filly, £25 lOs, one 2-year-old colt £l6, a yearling £l3 10s. Three spring dray horses were also sold, one being especially well competed for and eventually selling at £36, one sold at £27, and one at £25. Only ordinary hacks were entered, and they sold at the followdng prices ; £l4, £lO, £9, £S 10s and £B.
