INVERCARGILL HORSE MARKET.

Messrs J. A. Mitchell and Co. report as follows :—-One of the smallest entries we have had for some considerable time came forward on Saturday last, only twenty-five horses being- entered. These included a number of serviceable farm horses, a nice spring carter or two and a few useful hacks and harness horses. For the better draughts there was pretty good inquiry, and a fair proportion of those entered changed hands at satisfactory prices. Aged useful sorts were also selling, but at low rates. Old and stale not inquired for. Hacks are very difficult to dispose of at present, but the upstanding reliable harness horses are in slightly better demand. Draatgffits sold at £35, £32 10s, £3O for gKtod active sorts, aged active horses £25 to £ls, old and stiff £l2 t 0 £5. Hacks, etc., £l4 to £-10 for useful animals, weedy and old from £8 to £3.
