Business Notes.

Messrs Thomson and Beattie's great sale starts to-day, Saturday, February 2nd. Sale circular goes through with this paper. It is worth the most earnest perusal by anyone requiring drapery, more especially if they want it both good and cheap. Since the recent fire swept through Seaward Bush, sawmillors have been on the look-oift for fresh areas, and should note that Messrs Garvey Bros, are advertising 15 or 20 acres of first-class sawmilling timber for sale. It should command a high price, considering that it consists principally of rod pine and totara, and is close to a good road.

Miss J. Todd, teacher of drawing and painting, has resumed classes in her studio in Esk street, opposite the post office. An exhibition of pupils’ work is on view to-day, and friends and intending pupils are invited to visit the seudio. Miss Todd is a thoroughly competent teacher, and holds certificates from London. Parents should have no hesitation in placing their children in her care, to undergo a course of these necessary arts. Pupils may now be enrolled.

Those interested in babies should read the advertisement inserted by the Philadelphia Novelty Co., in the Arcade.

Messrs LHlicrap, McX aughton and Co. have a word to say to those in search of school books and school requisites', and the famous Dresden pianos, tor which they are agents. For first-class crockery and useful articles for the homo don't forget to call at J. T. Gibsoa's in Doe street. All goods marked down to selling prices.

Lindsay a nd Go. have a choice suppl3r of table delicacies on sale this week, including ribs, cuttings, kidneys, and their famous pork sausages.

Messrs McConechy and Co., Arcade, are delighted with the patronage alreadj' accorded them. This affords another illustration that quality and low prices are appreciated. Mothers, bring your children for school boots —their boots are made to wear well and long.
