Messrs Thomson and Beattie's great sale starts to-day, Saturday, February 2nd. Sale circular goes through with this paper. It is worth the most earnest perusal by anyone requiring drapery, more especially if they want it both good and cheap. Since the recent fire swept through Seaward Bush, sawmillors have been on the look-oift for fresh areas, and should note that Messrs Garvey Bros, are advertising 15 or 20 acres of first-class sawmilling timber for sale. It should command a high price, considering that it consists principally of rod pine and totara, and is close to a good road.
Miss J. Todd, teacher of drawing and painting, has resumed classes in her studio in Esk street, opposite the post office. An exhibition of pupils’ work is on view to-day, and friends and intending pupils are invited to visit the seudio. Miss Todd is a thoroughly competent teacher, and holds certificates from London. Parents should have no hesitation in placing their children in her care, to undergo a course of these necessary arts. Pupils may now be enrolled.
