On the 27tli December the local female Foresters, held their halfyearly meeting and election of officers. P.C.R. Bro. Moss was chosen to act as installing officer, and the following were elected for the ensuing term : P.C.R., Sis. Cockroft ; C.R., Sis. A. Cooper ; S.C.R., Sis. E. Valentine ; treasurer, Bro. O. Cockroft ; secretary, Bro. 'A. McKish ; M.S., Sis, Valentine ; S.W., Sis. Moody ; J.W., Sis. B. Parker ; 5.8., Sis. K. J. Crozier ; J. 8., Sis. J. Kirkland. Previous to the adult meeting of the girls’ Juvenile Court was held, and the name chosen for the Juveniles was Court Guiding Star. A : skipping competition was also inaugcrated. MrPhilips, of the N.Z. Shipping Co., who has recently been promoted to one of the Co.’s northern branches, received a pleasant surprise from the employes of the local branch of the Company in the shape of a handsome dressing-case. Mr J. W. King made the presentation on behalf of the employes. Mr Philips, thoug-h taken by s\irprise, suitably acknowledged the gift.
